Woodward precision steering U-joint, sold with all D1 chassis kits. .625-36 x .625-36 shaft splines, and it fits the DRI 400-102 rack and pinion steering box.
The U-joint is what lets the steering shaft change angle between the wheel and the rack while still transmitting input precisely. A worn or cheap U-joint introduces slop right in the middle of the driver most important control.
